As the title says, the eSports market size is HUGE. Valued at billions of dollars, it’s expected to grow to over $10 billion by 2032. It’s fun to take a step back now and then, and think about the early days of internet gaming, back when people were gaming on 28.8k dial-up modems, competing with each other in Doommatches, Quakematches and Dukematches. Internet connections started speeding up with cable modems, ISDN, ADSL etc. and online gaming had a lot less lag than what people were used to. We also started seeing more eSports competitions such as the Red Annihilation Quake 1 tournament where Thresh won a Ferarri and the Razer CPL Quake3 tournament where Fatal1ty made his mark. Things have come a long way since then and now eSports is increasingly being recognised as a legitimate Olympic sport.
